In 1959 John and Delores Coker purchased the Funeral Home in Sanger Texas and proudly almost 50 years
later we are still a local family owned and operated funeral home in Jacksboro as well as Sanger and
Decatur, Texas. Mike and Jill Coker had a vision to raise their family in a rural community full
of pride and tradition and be an active part of that community. After much researching and planning
the Coker Family purchased the Maddox-Hawkins Funeral Home in Jacksboro in 1990. The funeral home
already had deep roots into Jack County as it was owned and operated by a native of Jack County.
We are proud of our funeral directors and staff, each of who are dedicated to maintaining the highest
standards of excellence in funeral service as well as being active members of the community. We take
pride in our ability to meet the needs of every family. We genuinely care about our friends and neighbors.

David Moore joined the Coker Funeral Home team in 1991, after graduating from the Dallas Institute of Funeral Service. While his main responsibilities are directing funerals and embalming, he has a heart for ministering to people, especially in times of grief. David's faith in the Lord Jesus Christ gives him extra measures of love and compassion for families with whom he meets.
David has high regards for the community of Jacksboro and is involved in many organizations that promote its growth and quality of life. He is a volunteer fireman with the Jacksboro Volunteer Fire Department, where he also serves as secretary/treasurer. He is one of many directors at the Jacksboro Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Parks and Recreation Board.
David and his wife Melissa married in 1991. They spend much of their time in children's and adult ministries with their church, Live Oak Baptist. Balancing his time between community obligations and home is a high priority. Because David has three young daughters whom he adores, his hobbies include backyard tea parties and barbeques, flying kites and fly fishing, hide-n-seek and hunting. |
