Burk Lewis,

Burk David Lewis, Jr. was born on March 12, 1926 to Burk David and Rosa Dimple (Rice) Lewis, Jr. in Henrietta, Texas. He went to be with his Lord on December 10, 2007. He was 81 years old. Burk served his country proudly in the United States Army from 1945 to 1946. He married Lee Marion Fitzpatrick in Jacksboro, Texas on June 24, 1951 and he was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. He was a retired plant operator for Arco Pipeline. He was also a landscaper for years for many in the community. He actually was more of a "yard artist" than a landscaper because after he was done the yard was manicured, beautiful and truly a work of art! Most of all he was a good hard-working Christian man who loved his family dearly and who his family will miss sorely until that day they are all reunited in heaven. He is preceded in death by his parents, three uncles, one aunt and a great nephew. Survivors include his beloved wife Lee Marion of Jacksboro; his son Sammy David Lewis and wife Gloria; two daughters Rosie Dimple Lewis and Marion Faye Flint and husband Ervin all of Jacksboro; a brother Will F. Lewis and wife Laura of Leeville, Louisiana; two sisters Lucille Thompson and husband Cecil of Wichita Falls and Bonnie Faye McMillian of Corsicana, Texas; a sister-in-law Mrs. Geneva Flowers of Irving, Texas; his special daughters Shirley Fontaine and husband Tony and Fina Esparza; his best friend Henry Richards; grandsons Roland Lewis(mother Gail), Myron Lewis(mother Vanessa), Nik Lewis and fiance Stephanie, Tacoma Fontaine and wife Amber, Harris Esparza, Kelvin Thompson, Jacoby Prestwood and Jimmy; granddaughters Keely Howard and husband Aleem, Adrena Bynum and husband Fred, Celia Fontaine; great-grandsons Brendon, Xavier, Jaylan, Brylan, Dadrion, Kaleem, Antonio Fontaine; great-granddaughters Kayle Maples; Brooklyn Fontaine, Tiata Bynum, Fredaria Bynum; many nephews, nieces and friends. A Celebration of Burk's Life will be Thursday December 13, 2007 at 11:00am at the First Baptist Church in Jacksboro, Texas. Rev. Woodrow Holman, Jr. will be officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Jacksboro.
