Darlene Bonner

Darlene Bonner, born on January 13th, 1943 in Jacksboro, TX passed away on March 13th, 2021. She is preceded in death by her parents Wallace and Gladys Duncan. She is survived by beloved husband of 57 years, Ed Bonner, daughter Melanie Pizzey and her husband Dave Pizzey, daughter Tiffany Lipscomb and her husband Wendell Lipscomb, and grandson Zach Pizzey, his wife Amy and granddaughter Lauren Pizzey. She received a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Texas as well as her master’s degree at Texas Woman’s University Denton. Darlene was an English and French teacher and counselor during her 37 year career in secondary education. She also sponsored many of the high school organizations including National Honor Society, Student Council, the International Thespian Society and Nike Club. Darlene so enjoyed working with her students in directing dinner theatre and Senior Class plays. After retirement from teaching at Jacksboro High School, she spent many years as an educational counselor at both the Jacksboro and Bridgeport state correctional facilities. She always wanted to make a difference by helping others and did both during her time in her pre and post retirement careers. Darlene was very active in many organizations including Delta Kappa Gamma, the Jacksboro High School Ex Students Association, Business and Professional Women, the University of North Texas Alumni Association and was a member of the Church of Christ. She was an avid sports fan and loved all our DFW area professional teams, especially the Dallas Cowboys. She was a huge supporter of the UNT Mean Green and enjoyed season tickets to the home football games in Denton. A graveside memorial service will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Jacksboro on March 19th at 3 pm. We understand that during a pandemic, in person ceremonies are a personal choice.
