John Williams

VIEW VIDEO TRIBUTE John R. Williams was born on November 12, 1952 in Mineral Wells, Texas to T. D. and Julia (Carter) Williams. He passed away after a valiant fight with cancer in Dallas, Texas on Monday November 10, 2008. He was 55 years old. John R. was an active and lifelong resident of Jack County and Jacksboro. He attended high school and graduated from Jacksboro High School. He attended and graduated from Texas A&M University in 1975 where he was a member of the Fightin' Texas Aggie Band. He married Paula Cook on November 6, 1976 in Jacksboro, Texas. John R. was the active and present President of the Jacksboro ISD-Board of Trustees, President of the Jack County Water Control Improvement District, Member of the Jack County Fair Association and the Jacksboro Lions Club. He was past president for the Jack County Appraisal Board, Jack County Fair Association, Jack County Soil and Water Conservation District and Gladys Johnson Ritchie Library Board. He was also a past Chairman of the Administrative Board for his church the First United Methodist Church; past Trustee of the Texas Association of School Boards; a former Board Member of the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets Development Council. He was a Jack County Rural Fire Department Honorary Lifetime Member. He is preceded in death by his father T.D. Williams. Those left behind to cherish his memory is his wife Paula of 32 years; his daughter Mallory Elizabeth Williams; his mother Julia Williams of Wichita Falls; his brothers Tommy Williams and wife Charlotte of Ballinger, Texas and Ed Williams and wife Alice of Wheaton, Illinois; his sister Mary Ann Shawver of Wichita Falls and many other family members, friends and associates. Services will be Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at 11 am at the First United Methodist Church in Jacksboro, Texas. There will also be a visitation on Tuesday November 11, 2008 from 7-8 pm at Coker Funeral Home in Jacksboro.
