Katie Elizabeth Fry Lené

Katie Elizabeth Fry Lené, age 79, passed away on Monday, April 13, 2026, at her home in Jacksboro, Texas. She was born on November 17, 1946, in Jacksboro, Texas, to John Allen Fry and Jessie Oneita Simmons Fry. A visitation will be held from 5 PM to 7 PM on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at First Baptist Church Duncanville, with funeral services on Monday, April 20, 2026, at 10 AM at Bible Baptist Church, Jacksboro, Texas. Burial will follow at Shannon Cemetery. Katie married the love of her life, William Lené, on February 22, 1969, at First Baptist Church, Jacksboro, Texas. Prior to her marriage she attended Antelope High School. After graduation she began studies at Dallas Baptist College, where she completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She also attended Texas A&M University, Commerce where she earned a Master of Science in Counseling. She completed various post-graduate coursework at University of North Texas, and Texas Women’s University. Throughout her life, she faithfully served her community as a Registered Nurse. For forty years, she showed her versatility and commitment, as an educator and counselor at Duncanville Independent School District. Additionally, her love for the classroom took her to Southwestern Medical School at Dallas where she taught in the Emergency Medical Services field. After retirement, she returned home to Jacksboro where she enjoyed working as a substitute teacher at Jacksboro High School until April, 2025. Katie was also a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Jacksboro and a long-time member of the Shannon Cemetery Association where she recently served as President. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Katie was preceded in death by her parents, Aunt Christine and Uncle Wesley Kothman, and Aunt Catherine Corine Simmons. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, William Lené; her daughter, Jessica Lené-Ashley and husband Don; her brother, John Charles Fry and wife Kayla Fry; close cousin Warren Coody, her grandchildren, Nydia Sears and Jaden, Maree Jobe, Emma Jobe, Aubri Jobe, and Drew Patterson; her great-grandchildren; along with many other extended family members and friends.
