John Herschel Epperson was born on June 21, 1918 in Senate, Texas to Dreweary and Maude (Leatherwood) Epperson. He passed away on Thursday May 5, 2016 in Childress, Texas. He was 97 years old. John worked in the oil business for many years on drilling rigs. He was a member of Mountain Home Missionary Baptist Church in Jacksboro and a loving father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend. He is preceded in death by his parents; his siblings Paul, Boyd and Lydia; and his children Hershell, Ricky and Drew. He is survived today by his children Kenneth Epperson and wife Barbara of Gordon, Texas, daughter JoAnn Lasseter and husband Jerry of Iowa Park, Melvin Epperson and wife Bessie of Graham, and Shirley Kramer of Emporia, Kansas; brother Herman Epperson and wife Treva, sister-in-laws Ella Jean Epperson and Peggy Epperson; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren; and many other extended family members and friends.
