Johnny Callan

February 2, 1999 - November 26, 2016

John Leonard "Johnny" Callan, of Jacksboro, Texas, was born on February 2, 1999 in Fort Worth, Texas. He was tragically taken from his family and his many friends on Saturday, November 26, 2016 in Palo Pinto County, Texas. He was 17 years old. Johnny attended Jacksboro High School where he served his FFA chapter as President, was the Area IV FFA President, and was a Ford Leadership Scholar at the state level. He was: on the National Champion Team in FFA Range Evaluation; placed in many other State FFA competitions; and served as a voting delegate at the National FFA Convention and numerous state FFA conventions. He also earned the Lone Star Degree and was a champion of multiple livestock market goat shows across Texas. He would have been the Valedictorian for the Class of 2017. He was president of the Student Council, and he was involved in Beta Club, NHS, NSHSS, FCA, 4-H, and FBLA. He individually designed, raised funds for, and met with city officials to facilitate the construction of a public lake dock; participated and helped plan "Operation Restoration" an event to clean up houses of those who were unable to do so; and tutored high school students free of charge. He was loved and treasured by all who knew him. He was passionate, committed, dedicated, and talented at everything he did. Most of all, Johnny was caring, compassionate, kind, and loving. Words cannot describe the incredible person he was. He will be missed and loved forever.
