Neil Jackson

June 4, 1953 - April 4, 2020

Carley Neil Jackson was born on June 4, 1953, to Troy and Betty (Martin) Jackson in Jacksboro, Texas. He joined an older brother, Billy Odell, and stepsister, Ruth Anita (Duree). Neil went to his heavenly home on April 4, 2020, as a result of metastatic lung cancer. Neil attended school in Jacksboro and graduated from Jacksboro High School in 1972. During his younger years he spent a lot of time with grandparents, Leon and Nora Martin, on their farm. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working with the horses and cattle. He was never too busy or too tired to saddle a horse for his two young nieces to ride, and he stayed close by to make sure the girls were safe. Neil was a devoted brother with a kind, loving heart. When his brother developed terminal cancer, Neil stayed with Odell until the battle was lost. Neil was employed with the City of Runaway Bay until he retired at age 62. Then he stayed busy mowing and doing yardwork for the public. Recently he was a hunting guide for Oxferd Outfitters. His love of the outdoors and hunting served him well in this profession where he became a valued employee and friend. Neil was preceded in death by his parents, Troy and Betty Jackson, grandparents, Leon and Nora Martin, brother, Odell Jackson and great-nephew, James Tyler Womack. He leaves a stepsister, Ruth Rogers, and her husband, James, of Jacksboro; niece, Angela Womack, and her husband, John, of Mansfield, Texas; and niece, Christi Pfau, and her husband, Russell, of Stephenville. He also leaves great-nephews Justin Womack and Zach Pfau, and great-niece Emily Womack. The family greatly appreciates the care and concern of Neil’s employer and friend, James Ray. Also, many thanks to the doctors, nurses, case workers, and pastoral care in the ICU of United Regional Hospital in Wichita Falls, Texas. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the City of Jacksboro Animal Shelter, 1070 US Hwy 380 West, Jacksboro, TX 76458, or to Concerned Citizens, 400 East Pine Street, Jacksboro, TX 76458.
