Sandra Shawver

Sandra L Shawver passed away peacefully on Christmas Day surrounded and embraced in love by her family. She left this world for a more peaceful place on Christmas which reflects what a beautiful gift she was to every one she knew. She is survived by her loving husband David, son Casey, daughter in law Patty, daughter Cori, grandson Lukas and granddaughter Eva, brother Carroll, sister-in-law Delyn, Nephews Ted (and wife Julie) and Matt, great nephews, Luke and Jake. She was very much beloved and treasured by her family and friends. She dedicated her life to bringing joy and love to those around her. She was born in Jacksboro, Texas, daughter of Louise Lewis and cattle rancher, Alton Lewis. She grew up in Jacksboro and fell in love at first sight with R David Shawver of Jacksboro. They married on August 12, 1962. She received her masters of education from TWU and was a dedicated 6th grade English teacher for 30 years in Irving. She loved her job and her friendships she made. She was also very gifted in teaching English grammar, and she was a stickler at home for using correct grammar, which was a fun theme of family time. Sandra was also a dedicated and beloved preacher’s wife for 40 years, ever supportive of her husband “Reverend Shawver”. She was cherished by the church members of all the churches they served, including Paradise, St Marks in Mesquite, Chapel Hill in Dallas, Plymouth Park in Irving, first United Methodist, Richardson. She enjoyed being involved and present in church activities, including teaching the senior Sunday school class at Plymouth Park, where she was close to and deeply cared for every person. Sandra had joy with everyday life and loved life. She enjoyed going out to eat and getting a dipped cone at DQ until the end. She loved Elton John and Stevie Wonder, and she would love to hear “I just called to say I love you” on the radio. She was an amazing shopper and loved to go shopping and to meet friends for lunch. She was well known for her delicious home cooking and expert status in scrabble and boggle. Mom had a beautiful sense of style and felt best when she had her hair fixed, nails done and at least some lipstick and blush. Sandra was a wonderful mother to Casey and Cori and was a very best friend and the best listener to them both. Until the end, she was their biggest supporter and loved unconditionally through good times and difficult times. Sandra was also the best “Grammy” to Lukas and Eva. She was a kind, loving, fun and dedicated Grammy, who was always there with open arms. Sandra was in love with her husband David and was a loving cherished wife to him, and he was always proud to call her lovingly his “woman”. They loved and cared for each other until the very end and shared a rare true love.
