Amy Michelle Petre-Polk

Amy Michelle Petre was born to Teresa (Estes) Allen and John Petre on April 11th, 1977 in Liberal, Kansas, and passed away in Arlington, Texas on March 14th, 2023 at the age of 45 years, 11 months, and 3 days. At the age of two, Amy was blessed with another lifelong parental figure, Ray Alan Banbury. Amy started attending school in Pratt, KS, moving a few times between Pratt and Jacksboro. As a child, Amy was very athletic, enjoyed the outdoors, and was fiercely protective of her brother, BJ. Eventually, settling in Jacksboro and graduating from Jacksboro High School in 1995. Amy became a mother to Lewis Earnest Massengale III in 1994. Followed by Colten Ray in 1997 and Haylee Jayne in 1999. Being a mother and nurturing people came easy to Amy. Qualifying as a Certified Nurses Aid in 2000 was a very logical next step for her. Amy worked primarily in nursing homes, eventually settling into hospice work. Her innate ability and desire to make people comfortable drove Amy to provide exceptional care to each and every one of her patients. Amy loved deeply and took her role in relationships with friends and family seriously. She was a loyal and steadfast friend and confidant to many. Loving and caring for the little ones in the family, she treasured her time with nieces, nephews, and especially her grandchildren. The special bond she had with Whitney and Braiden was evident. Amy was a Christian, living her faith was something she took joy in. She began her walk with Christ as a young teen, getting saved at church camp and baptized shortly after. Amy became a fierce prayer warrior always offering to lift anyone up in prayer who needed it. If you got into Amy’s car in the last years of her life, you can bet her radio would be tuned to the Christian station. Amy’s life was not without trials, she showed extreme resilience in the face of adversity. Her ability to enjoy life and let loose despite her hardships was something to be admired. She exuded raw hilarity even in the worst circumstances. Amy was a unique individual and unapologetically herself. She had no problem being exactly who she was and didn’t care if anyone had a problem with it. Always looking for the next laugh or bingo hall, she lived life to the fullest every day. Amy is survived by her long-time partner and fiancé Anthony Polk of the home, her mother Teresa Allen of Exeter, MO, her father John Petre of Leavenworth, KS, step-father Ray Alan Banbury and wife Sue of Pratt, KS, her maternal grandfather Bill Estes of Wizard Wells, TX, one brother BJ Petre and wife Tanya of Wizard Wells, TX, one sister Jill Minson and husband Shawn of Corn, OK, three sons; Lewis Massengale of Archer City, TX, Colten Massengale of Archer City, TX, Anthony Polk Jr of Houston, TX, two daughters; Haylee Massengale of Paradise, TX, and Britney Scott of Houston, TX; 9 grandchildren; Whitney, Braiden, Daviane, Kynzlie, Jaidyn, Lilly, Yana, Brandon and Brayden, and a host of other family members and friends. Amy is preceded in death by her beloved grannies, Betty Estes and “Granny Mark”, grandmother Velma Petre, grandfather Jack Petre and son, Tremaine Polk.
