Ava Long

Ava Juanita Long of Truce, Texas was born on October 19, 1932 in Jacksboro, Texas to Dan Fletcher and Callie (Smith) Damron. She passed away on Wednesday June 4, 2008 in Jacksboro. She was 75 years old. She was a lifetime resident of Jack County. She married Edgar Elmer Long on October 7, 1950 in Loving, Texas. She was a member of Northside Church of Christ and the Sunshine Quilt Club. She loved to sew, fish, quilt, crochet, garden, oil paint and many other arts and crafts. She was a homemaker who loved her Lord and her family dearly. She leaves behind a host of family and friends who will miss her sorely. She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Grace Gary and her two brothers Ronald and Myria Damron. Those left behind to cherish her memory are husband Edgar Elmer Long of Truce, Texas; daughters Carolyn Smith and husband Ricky of Jacksboro, Darlene Maxwell and husband Edward of Jacksboro, Donna Skinnell and husband Lee of Lubbock, Renitta Long of Decatur, Sherry Elaine Long of Jacksboro, Kim Dungan and friend Spencer Beavers of Bowie; sons Eddie Long and wife Sherry of Bowie and Ricky Lynn Costanza and wife Arsie of Moab, Utah; sisters Wanda Scarber of Jacksboro, Dorothy Estes of Wizard Wells, Helen Tilghman of Jacksboro and Karen Strickland of Stephenville; brothers Billy Dan Damron of Jacksboro, Winfred Damron of Jacksboro, Larry Damron of Jacksboro, Marvin Damron of Kingfisher, OK, L.D. Damron of Mineral Wells and Dwight Damron of Jacksboro; 16 grandchildren Laurie Kyle and husband Kent of Archer City, Scott Reeves and wife Hailey of Bowie, Jennifer Shank and husband Jeff of Holliday, David and Daniel Firenza of Lubbock, Timothy Skinnell of Lubbock, Brandy Long of Wichita Falls, Rusty Long of Jacksboro, Eric and Garrett Ewell of Saginaw, Brooke Ewell of Decatur and Zachary Dungan of Jacksboro; step-grandchildren Miles Costanza of Phoenix, Arizona, Clint Costanza of Moab, Utah, Tami and Hal Brown of Graford, Texas and April and Brent Brooker of Jacksboro; great-grandchildren Colton, Cason and Caden Shank of Holliday, Brady and Sara Kyle of Archer City; step-great-grandchildren Tia, Ali and Sawyer Brown of Graford and Micah and Tanner Brooker of Jacksboro, Texas. There will be a visitation on Friday June 6, 2008 from 7 to 8 pm at Coker Funeral Home in Jacksboro. Services will be held on Saturday June 7, 2008 at 10:00am at Live Oak Baptist Church with Craig Lile officiating. Burial will follow at Truce Cemetery.
