Betty Jean Gammon

Betty Jean Gammon of Jacksboro, Texas went home to be with the Lord on February 4, 2014. She was born on May 27, 1929 in Minden, Louisiana to Troy and Dora Waggoner. She is survived by her daughters Becky Raska and husband Ed of Wichita Falls, Texas, Kathleen Gillihan and husband Kenny of Arlington, Texas and Deborah Wells and husband Randy of Jacksboro, Texas, four grandchildren, Jason Locke of Wichita Falls, Texas, Kimberly Wells of North Richland Hills, Texas; Kyle Wells of Midland, Texas and Chris Raska and Natalie of Wichita Falls, Texas, two great grandchildren, Ethan Locke of Wichita Falls, Texas and Katherine Locke of Wichita Falls, Texas, who is expecting MRs. Gammon’s first great great grandchild; brothers, Bob Waggoner of Plano, Texas, Rodney Waggoner and wife Linda of Dallas, Texas and sister Dorothy Flanagan and husband Jim of Longview, Texas, one sister-in-law Joynelle Baker and husband Amon of Greenwood, Arkansas and several nieces and nephews that were very special to her. She is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years James Gammon, her parents Troy and Dora Waggoner, a brother Troy Waggoner, Jr. and a nephew Scott Waggoner. She was a “stay at home” mother until her girls were in school. Then she worked at Brazos Gas, Cy Perkins Ford, Cotten Drug Store and completed her work career at the Texas Highway Department for 24 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Jacksboro for 62 years. She loved to sing and had a beautiful voice. She was a member of the Adult Choir when she was younger and sang many solos. She worked with Preschool Choir, Vacation Bible School, Mission Friends and loved working with children. She delivered Meals on Wheels every week for several years and was faithful to visit people at the Jacksboro Nursing Home. She loved her family so very much and enjoyed visiting with friends. Funeral sevices will be held 2pm Saturday February 8,2014 at the First Baptist Church. A visitation will be held Saturday, 1 – 1:30 pm prior to the service.
