Julia Carter Williams

Julia Carter Williams was born on January 3, 1917 to Lester and Edie (Foreman) Carter in Jack County, Texas. She passed away on Sunday October 20, 2013 in Wichita Falls, Texas. She was 96 years old. Julia married Thomas Davis "T.D." Williams on August 9, 1936. She was an active member of the Jack County community including being a member of the First Methodist Church in Jacksboro and the Jack County Home Demonstration Club in Barton Chapel. Julia was a past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star Chapter in Jacksboro and held an honorary Chapter and State FFA Degree in Texas. She was an adult 4-H leader and a founding member of the Jack County Posse Ladies Auxiliary. She was a member of the Rebecca Jane Fisher Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas as well as serving as their Chapter Historian and Chaplain. First National Bank bestowed on her the American Cancer Society Award of Courage. Not only was Julia active in the community but perhaps most of all she was a homemaker to her family and a rancher with her husband T.D. In 1989 they were awarded the Agriculture Family of Jack County presented by the Jack County Farm Bureau. Julia is preceded in death by her husband T. D., her sisters Mary Turner and Ruth Peek, her brother John D. Carter, her son John R. Williams, and her granddaughter Emily Kristine Williams. Among the many left to cherish her memory include her sons, Tommy Williams and wife Charlotte of Lubbock, Texas and Ed Williams and wife Alice of Wheaton, Illinois, daughter Mary Ann Shawver of Wichita Falls, Texas and daughter-in-law Paula Williams of Jacksboro, 8 grandchildren, David and Janna Williams of Paducah, Texas, Duane and Wendy Williams of Lubbock, Texas, Amy and Dan Clark of Baltimore, Maryland, Shelley and Joe McKee of Postenkill, New York, Amanda and Marty Peterson of Youngsville, North Carolina, Mollie and Richard Harrod of Hyde Park, Illinois, Paula Guidry of Rowlett, Texas, and Mallory Williams and fiancé Ross Tolleson of College Station, Texas , 10 great-grandchildren and many other extended family members and friends.
